Monday--Thud!

Photo:  Train Wreck at Cat Butte Creek.  There was no warning when the Cat Butte rose quickly overnight after the unseasonably warm rains and snow melt.  Mud slides did the rest.  All that remained was the hiss of steam from the boiler, the creaking of hot metal contracting in the cold air and what sounded like distant purring from somewhere up in the dark, misty mountains.

Just because Lila Sage went back home, doesn't mean she didn't leave some nice memories.  And photos.  :)

Walked the dogs yesterday.  They had a wonderful time.  I'm sore and limping about this morning.

If you're reading this then we made it through New Year's Day.  We spent a fairly relaxing day at home and then went over to neighbor's for a delicious dinner and some laughter and frivolity.  Not a bad way to start the year.  And now, the weekend is coming up.  It just keeps getting better and better.  I have a feeling, however, that Monday is going to arrive with a thud.

A cold but sunny morning greets the new year - 2009.  Wow, we are now living in the future.

Calvin:  Wow, it really snowed last night!  Isn't it wonderful?
Hobbes:  Everything familiar has disappeared!  The world looks brand-new!
Calvin:  A new year...  A fresh, clean start!

Awoke at 2 am to take DD and DGD to the airport for their flight home.  Got back home around 8 am and crashed for a couple of hours but am awake now.  It feels just like it did when I was working full time.  The walking dead.  Wedding tonight.  Don't imagine we'll be staying too late.  OTOH, we might be wide awake and ring in the new year.  Hard to say.  We'll miss having the new grand baby around.  She is a sweetheart.

We have a high pressure center over us giving lots of nice sun without it being too warm or too cold for a change.  Definitely just the thing for those with Seasonal Affective Disorder.  And with no snow on the ground, we don't have that refrigerator effect that makes it even colder.  All in all a pretty nice ending to 2008 this week.  What will 2009 bring?  Where did the decade go?

Insomniart:  Digital Night Folk again.

Spent the day with grand daughter Lila.  She's a sweetheart for sure.  She's already graduated to a size 2 diaper.  That's my grand daughter!

Our new grand daughter, all of five weeks old, just arrived at our door at 2 A.M. and I got to hold her for a very long time.  She's around 9 lbs. now.  The family left San Francisco this morning  early and just now got here.  It's a long story but they made it and we're all going to sleep now.  Happy Holidays, all, and to all a good night.

Brrrrr.  Cold and windy all over the upper midwest today.  I feel bad for anyone without power from the ice storms.

Again with the digital night people although I slept pretty much through the night and didn't awake until 5:30.  I do take a nap during the day so am getting around 7 hours most times.

Yay!  Threw up some Christmas lights today as it was 62 deg. F.  Also very windy but I was in a sheltered location.  Not a bad day for only 2 days before official Winter.  Of course the temp. fell during the afternoon and it's now down to 35 at 9 p.m.

We had our local neighborhood Christmas party this afternoon.  Good food and company.  We've also been collecting food for the local food banks which are depleted of assets.
