You and I were both making pie shells today. I am in charge of pies for the Miller Thanksgiving and so I have the shells now in the freezer. Your pie looks good in the pic.
That pie looks so yummy! I only have one pie crust left in the freezer from the batch I made this summer. I cheated today and baked a Sara Lee pumpkin pie. It was pretty good, but not like the pies from scratch.
I usually store my pie shells on the grocery shelf until I need them...
That's one good lookin' apple pie there, Susan. I can smell it all the way from here. :)
Did you not cut yourself a piece, Ed?
Any of it left? I'd love a nice big piece with some vanilla ice cream =) <after all virtual pie has no calories, right?>
i had mine with ice cream....and it tasted yummy!! Couldn`t you claim to have delivered the pie by hand Susan?? steps to spain, and then on to Norway?????
Susan, It really tasted good. We are having Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake for Thanksgiving.
Thank You SO Much dear Susan!!
Your WONDERFUL apple pie was such a treat,
it made me oh-so happy as I sat down to eat ..
(should we weigh ourselves today then Ross,
or, shall we just wait just 1 more day?)
Right then, no guilt we'll feel,
it was made with such love and kindness too
I enjoyed my "big" slice SO very much,
and I'm sure that you did too!!!
There was no ice-cream in my freezer,
just a pack of frozen peas,
but this delicious homemade apple pie,was just PERFECT,
a real comforting-tonic sent to please!
The pastry was so light and tasty,
and the apples were SO good,
the cinnamon and sugar made me lick my lips,
and these pretty-little apples on top, had no pips.
You're such a generous Lady Susan,
I'm feeling just a little guilt,
one day I'd like to find the time to sit,
.. and make you a lovely homely quilt.
Have the most beautiful day!!!

How many at the Miller Thanksgiving, Sue? And Kaye, I've got this pumpkin I think I'll cook down for at least two of the pies -- lots of pumpkins grown around here, and as is so often the case, fresh-cooked is so much tastier than canned. Mary, what can I say? No chocolate pies are planned for this Thanksgiving. Ed, you did get yourself a piece, right? Healthylifer -- of course I used Schwan's vanilla ice cream (from a rich dairy state, Wisconsin, Schwans is extra HIGH in butterfat, oh so good, but I took out the calories for you). Ross and Mary, I'm glad you liked it. Rosemary, I'm so sorry I forgot your ice cream -- I know how much you like ice cream. The poem is wonderful! I've cut, pasted and posted it here by my desk.
Beautiful pie! I think any cooking, cleaning, balancing the checkbook steps should count as double!
Too beautiful to eat!
Hello again my dearest friend! (who makes delicious pies!).
Don't you worry at all about not sending over any ice-cream, I'm "attempting" to cut-back on some of my many treats.
.. seems my clothes have been shrinking???
No, me getting fatter, but that just has to stop!!
The apple pie, and the nice thought behind it was the best I've had in ages!!!
Hello there dear @aekingsley!
Just impossible NOT to tuck into this beautiful pie, the little apples on top make it so unique and special too!

Yum! How about a little ice cream and some cheddar cheese with this pie????
Thanks Susan! It was delicious!!
I am very jealous of your big Thanksgiving. We use to have those but now with family scattered have pretty much traded Thanksgiving to be able to all be together on Christmas. I guess Thanksgiving is really a frame of mind, so I should focus more on all the many things we have to be thankful for.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who still makes their own pie shells. The refrigerated ones are really very good, but for a special occasion a home made crust is still the best. What will you fill them with?

Ann, this Thanksgiving will be our kids/grandkids, Jim's folks, his brother (who lives near by) and his brothers' kids. Not his sisters' families -- we've even given up Christmas with his sisters for the most part; not my family. May be the last of its kind, too--with his brother's about-to-become a grandparent. I suspect this extra-large gathering may not last.
Chris -- I'll have a couple of pumpkin pies (may still cook down a pumpkin to use -- maybe not; but if I do, it will taste better) and a peach pie for which I'll use filling I froze last summer and probably a blueberry because I also have frozen Michigan blueberries. If I cut them into eight, four will be enough, don't you think?

Yummy! :)
Are you taking orders?? I would like to buy two for the holidays. My son bakes, and so do I, but we never bake apple pies, and THAT looks yummy!

After Rosemary and Ross left, Sallie and I took a long trail walk. Had to look really closely -- but we walked the last loop in a bit of a snow flurry.
In preparation for our hosting Thanksgiving this year (for 25, with children) I put four pie shells in the freezer, ready to fill and bake the Thanksgiving week.
I think any steps taken while making pies OUGHT to count double, don't you? (Expect to get a few more steps yet tonight; sorry, not pie steps this time)
