Wow on the poem, the photo and the steps today, Susan! All very nice.
Thank you, Ed (like your avatar). You did understand that's a Dickinson poem, didn't you?
Lovely to have the photo to go with the poem. Lovely photo. Lovely poem.
I let you down today - low steps.

I understood they were Emily's words but you put them together nicely with the photo.
Got it, Ed.

Ah, so many poetry lovers and poets here.
Susan i didnt realise you were in to poerty aswell, good day all around.
I agree Susan great job all around
I'm wondering just which insects pollinate the Gentian. We have had a hard frost here, and this little guy is still blooming. Could it be self pollinating? Guess I'll have to look it up.
Ah, yes, I am an admirer of the arts, and I play with poetry. I keep a copy of Emily Dickinson by my bed -- oh, and Robert Frost, too. Lately, the rhymes I play with have begun on my walks.

Mary now everything seems to fit into place.
:) Poetry is fun! I write some every day!
We'd like to see some of it on here, Lynn. When you're in the mood. It doesn't have to be as good as Emily Dickinson. It's all good.
I'll think about it Ed. Give me a little while. Too many to look through to choose from....
We've seen a bit of yours, haven't we, Lynn?
Yes, you have, Susan. But it has been a while back now. ;)
Wellllll....???

Here's a Downy Gentian blooming yet today on the western rail trail, Mountain. My wildflower book says "the flowers of Downy Gentian are one of the last to appear on the prairie and often survive hard frosts."
Emily Dickinson had at least two poems which included the Gentian. Here's one (Tyrian is a shade of purple):
GOD made a little gentian;
It tried to be a rose
And failed, and all the summer laughed.
But just before the snows
There came a purple creature
That ravished all the hill;
And summer hid her forehead,
And mockery was still.
The frosts were her condition;
The Tyrian would not come
Until the North evoked it.
"Creator! shall I bloom?"
