Posting this for @debby80 -- voted! Historic day, no matter how one looks at it.

Major morning housework, then Sallie and I took an hour-and-a-half walk on the trail. The north trail does give me a work-out. Saw a wonderful bursting milkweed pod. I'll take my camera next time -- if the rain waits just a bit. Supposed to be major windy tomorrow, though. This lovely weather won't last.

Expect to do some weights and calisthenics tonight watching THE returns. Will post later.

Oh, my! We just saw history! Oh, my; oh, my; oh, my. And I remember James Meredith. I remember... segregation coming down. It's like... I have no words for it. Who'd a thought? Oh, oh, oh YES!

Susan, is that what you get as a receipt after you vote in Illinois?  Indiana has no such thing and no paper trail in case the computers mess up.  I don't like it at all.  Even when I buy a tank of gas I get a receipt for it if I want one.  We've got to change this.  What I really want is a piece of paper that confirms how I voted.

Yes, this is what I got -- but don't know if we got these last presidential election. Don't even remember if we got these in the primary. The ballot was different this time -- used a black marker to fill in an oval, a nicely large oval, at that (I have bad memories of my son's dyslexic fill-in-the-oval testing he got in junior high. After his having failed several tests, I marched him in to the teacher and had him answer the questions orally, which he did perfectly. One of the teachers I managed to convince at the time. Fortunately, times have changed for the better).

I went between being teary and having chills!  YES!  Some of us teachers even gathered in my room this morning to have some tears together and hug each other with joy!  Whew!

slsommer, we were talking about your/our cancer treatment, tamoxifen and whatever yours is called.

Ah. What I meant was our grandmothers had an almost certain progression of their disease -- our treatments might not (aren't) fun, but we generally have a whole lot better prognosis.

that's what I wanted to comment about! We (or at least I) complain about the treatment, but at least I GET treatment!!!! How much longer are you on the anti-hormones? I don't notice the side effects of the tamoxifen any more, so that is nice!!!

I think I'm on forever. They've said I'm on until the disease progresses (language for me has always been "until it progresses" or "when it progresses"). It hasn't progressed yet -- they're very pleased (though, of course, not as pleased as I am).
