Chris, was in too much of a hurry to try roasting the tomatoes -- still want to try them if there's any left when we get home.

Lynn, they're always better than grocery store tomatoes (which I won't buy, ever) but haven't quite the concentrated flavor of some years. Don't know if it's our soil (new for us, more clay) or more rain or the variety...

Ross -- that would be great! I fear it won't work, but I'll get you our itinerary when I'm back home tomorrow. Two weeks, only -- we'll be back in the States Sept. 7. I'm not certain which days are in Germany.

I wondered where you were last night. Busy running errands getting ready for the big trip...that you will enjoy immensely even as I work...?

I have a bunch of tomatoes, and I don't know how to can them.  I take them to work and give them away.
