Profile
I'm in my late 50s. When I got my pedometer I was about 40 pounds overweight. I work in the software industry - sitting down most of the day. My job involves a fair amount of international travel - hotels and big meals - not conducive to a healthy lifestyle. I have never been to a gym (and don't expect to) and like food too much to be an effective dieter. My only plus is that I have never driven therefore have always used public transport - which necessarily involves greater than average walking (to and from stops, etc.)My objective - lose weight and become fitter. I'm trying to eat a bit more sensibly but I'm not dieting. The purpose of the walking is to raise my metabolic rate as well as to burn off calories. I'm trying to lose a sustainable pound a week (so far so good). Walking works for me because I can do it anywhere and combine it with my normal hectic schedule.
