| 2009-01-06 | 5,220 | 2.3m | Not a lot of steps, but managed to get to the gym and walk for a half hour. |
| 2009-01-05 | 13,990 | 6.2m | Hit the treadmill at the gym after work. Also got in a light strenth training workout. I could sure tell I had not been going. Slowly getting back into the routine. Hope everyone had a great day. |
| 2009-01-04 | 20,880 | 9.3m | Went out with the intent of doing a 50 mile ride. Pulled the plug at 25 miles due to rain. When we pulled back up at the house, the sun was out--LOL. Hopefully will get to add to the total as I plan on going to the gym sometime this afternoon. Hope everyone is having a good day. |
| 2009-01-03 | 26,100 | 11.6m | Beautiful day out. Rode 45 miles with a friend of mine. It has been a bike day all day. After the ride we cleaned them up, oiled the chains and componenets, and then started putting information together for an upcoming ride. The knees did okay, and I felt good when the ride was over--however---once I got home, cleaned up, and started watching the football game---I only saw the last few minutes of the game. I just wonder what happened to the rest of it--LOL. Hope everyone had a great day. |
| 2009-01-02 | 3,550 | 1.6m | NOt a lot of steps, but at least I did keep it going. Tomorrow should hopefully be a better day. Will also plan and prioritize a few close range goal. The long range (6 mo nths down the road) is already there (do the Oklahoma Freewheel). |
| 2009-01-01 | 6,738 | 3.0m | A quiet day with the family. Kicked back, read a lot and just rested. Went to the park and walked during the early afternoon to get some steps in. Will hit the gym at work tomorrow (treamill). Hope everyone has a very Happy New Year. |
| 2008-12-27 | 6,542 | 2.9m | Sure enough, the weather changed and it is raining and colllddd. Along with the nice weather leaving, I caught a cold and sore throat (guess all this up and down weather) caught up with me. Janice is feeding me cold medicine. I did go the plant and jumped on a treadmill for a tat, but that's all the walking I got in. Hope everyone is doing well. Think I'll just prop my feet up and let the rest and medicine do their thing. |
| 2008-12-26 | 10,420 | 4.6m | Actually got out and walked in the park. Weather was okay, just a little overcast. I tried to take advantage of being able to get outside as tomorrow it is supposed to rain----treadmill bound---LOL. |
| 2008-12-25 | 6,122 | 2.7m | Not a lot of steps, but had a good but thoroughly exhausting day. I actually did good on the eating as well. Normal breakfast, sandwich for luch, and then when everyone got together for Christmas dinner---just had one plate (not piled too high--LOL). I even managed to keep the desert to a minimum (one helping of banana pudding). I did eat two of my grandaughters choclate covered something or other--lol. They were pretty good. The time together with family was great. Now it is back home, and start trying to up the steps---LOL. Hope everyone had a great Christmas. |
| 2008-12-23 | 10,762 | 4.8m | Walked on treadmill at the gym before leaving work. I'm off until the 29th---hurrah. Janice and I took all the grandkids to see Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and one of their elves tonight. They had a blast (Ithought I was going to go nuts---LOL). We took a few pics. Will try and get them scanned and in tomorrows post---if---I can get it to go--LOL. |
| 2008-12-22 | 10,440 | 4.6m | Steps are converted from strength training workout in the gym. Wow---twice in three days. Maybe things are slowly getting back to normal. The weather has turned cold here, so I guess my friend and I will be training on spinner bikes in the gym this weekend---but---that'll be okay. I don't relish bucking the cold and the wind---LOL. Getting ready for the competition---gonna try and take you walkers on---but---using the treadmill---LOL. |
| 2008-12-20 | 23,333 | 10.4m | Finally got some free time to get out on the bike and ride. (Got in a 35 mile ride--converted miles to stps and they are posted). My newly injected cortizoned knees, did pretty good, but I still didn't trust them enough to press them to much. A friend and I rode.It was great to get out and ride---didn'teven mind the strong winds---LOL. I hope everyone is doing well, and has finished their Christmas shopping. I have only 4 left to buy and I'll get them all at the same place (4 NIV Scofield Bibles). I bought one for my oldest granddaughter. Janice, both daughters, and my son fell in love with it. It made the selection easy, and is the absolute best gift I can give. |
| 2008-12-11 | 3,992 | 1.8m | Well---the snow was pretty well gone by mid afternoon, but left a lot of mangled cars in its wake, and unfortunately 1 (known)fatality in its wake. Gulf Coast Texans know how to drive in rain and flood conditions---snow is entirely different. I had no problems, just kinda took my time---LOL. Susan I did indeed take a few pics and will try and download them sometime this weekend or tomorrow. I'm off tomorrow, but had to scedule a doctors appointment, and our Company Christmas Party is tomorrow night. Hope everyone had a great day. |
| 2008-12-10 | 5,560 | 2.5m | Hey Hey----It's "SNOWING" in Houston, Texas---LOL. The front and back yard are almost covered---the street is slush. My kids and grandkids are having a blast---LOL. I ran out long enough to make a snowball to hit Janice with----her response, "don't throw that thing in here and make me fall down"---LOL. We have lived here since 1969---out of that time period, this is only the 4th or 5th time it has snowed. Well time to go sit down, cover up and get warm. Hope everyone is doing well. |
| 2008-11-28 | 13,920 | 6.2m | I finally did get back to the gym and
got in a workout---weight training, and exercise bike. It was really nice to get in some exercise. Going to give it my best shot to do the same tomorrow. The company accepted my preference letter, but has asked me to stay until June 1, 2009 to get through our upcoming VPP STAR OSHA Audit, to create some new programs, and to select and train my replacement---go figure---LOL. Most of the folks who took the package will be leaving December 31, 2008. Oklahoma has a bike ride I have wanted to do for years---it's called the Oklahoma Freewheel. It is a 7 day ride---starts on the Texas/OK state line and ends in Kansas. I believe they have it slated for a June 7th start this year. Retire on June 1---ride on June 7---what a way to start retirement---LOL. Hope all have been doing well. There is a lot going, but hopefully it will start slowing down some now. At any rate, it is nice to get to enter something and talk to you fine folks. Hope you all had a GREAT THANKSGIVING. |

| 2008-10-31 | 10,462 | 4.6m | Got in some walking and gym work today. Shut my eyes and turned in my preference packet---now it is whether they take it or n ot. I think wth my age being 62 they will---LOL. I'll know by the 17th. Everything has to go thruthe powers that be in Philly. I have heard they didn't get enough packets turned in, so looks like some folks will be let go whether they want to go or not. It'll all work itself out. I'm going back in today for a while to work on things for the audit. One more week and things should settle down---I hope. Can't tell you good it felt to hit the gym---tensions just rolled away---now walking on the treadmill----LOL. Wasn't bad really, I watched the TV--news and caught up on the pres. campaign Hope everyone is doing well. |
| 2008-10-28 | 7,549 | 3.4m | Hello Folks. Thought I'd make a post to let you know I'm still alive and kicking, just extremely busy. The PE Unit is safely down--we're disconnecting it from the live processes, and beginning the painful process of getting ready to see demolition crews come in and begin taking it down to the ground. Also, we are starting to get receive the voluntary layoff and retirement paperwork come in. I haven't turned mine in yet, but plan on it either tomorrow or thursday. The voluntary retirement is at company discretion. My boss has said that he would try and let me go if I turn it in, but I would probably get held at least for a period of 6 months before I would be released. I can live with that. We'll know on the 17th of November, who has a job and who doesn't----this is the really painful part---but we'll make it. Anyway, hang with me for another rough week, and everything should start coming back together. At least all these personal decisions, and preparations for process and fellow personnel will be done. Hope everyone is doing well and keeping those step counts going.

| 2008-10-23 | 8,405 | 3.7m | Finally got to do a little walking today. Work this week has been a killer. We have an internal audit in two weeks, so everyone (including me) is jumping through hoops. Hang with me. Hope everyone is doing fine. |
