travel day to schenectady, afternoon rehearsal at the theater, evening dinner with the team... most of my steps came from pacing in the hotel room during a very stupid biz phone call that got me agitated... sometimes getting angry has its value!!

long run at gym, ascension, various errands and paperwork (leaving for Schenectady tomorrow), drinks and dinner with Paul K. (great talk about the Mississippi!!)

gym run, errands, paperwork, and then to the New Museum with AB, visiting from LA, followed by delightful dinner and talk... the New Museum is in a neighborhood that somehow got completely gentrified when I wasn't looking: used to be flophouses, drunks lounging in the streets, and restaurant supply stores, and now it's all upscale boutiques... it makes one gape in utter amazement...

made a deadline just in time to head up to BrightRoom rehearsal, this time in midtown, and then dinner and more wine than I usually drink with JD, visiting from SF...

ascension in am, gym run, meeting with SM in afternoon, evening slug! (I didn't do ANY of the 4000 things on my to do list, and I really enjoyed being irresponsible!!!)

I like that number, even though it's not gonna help me make my average for the month... today was a travel day back to NYC, and I got caught by a novel on the train: Ten Days in the Hills, by Jane Smiley, and kept going with it even after I got home, instead of going to the gym...

a long slow run at the gym, and then home to the cabin for another day of Ficino reading and study with Vittoria: really interesting stuff, I love how certain threads of thought travel across hugely disparate times and places and re-emerge when conditions are right... perhaps human beings only have a finite number of ideas and we just refine and re-shape them to fit our times and mores...

here I am in nerd mode in the cabin...

took Vittoria up to Ripton for a walk at the Robert Frost interpretive trail, which was shorter than I expected because a bridge was washed out in a flood last summer (ironic, because I set Frost's poem The Flood a couple of months ago and we'll be premiering it in a couple of weeks in Schenectady...) but the little bit that WAS open was really very cool: excellent to read his poems surrounded by the woods and pastures he lived and worked in for so many years...

after a fine day reading Ficino (very cool Renaissance neo-Platonist who re-visioned ancient ideas of celestial harmony ("music of the spheres") to include medical, psychologicial, and magical properties) with Vittoria (another possible future project), we went for a fine xmas eve dinner in middlebury and to the latest service we could find (11 pm)... came home to light xmas lights in silence and peace...

the days have sort of blurred together, but here's another picture, this time from the front of the cabin...

after girding ourselves with coffee, sticky buns, and rock salt, we headed out to birch hill road, which had already been plowed quite well, and then to my driveway, where I got a serious workout shoveling out enough snow to park the car. then hiked down the hill to my cabin, dug out a bit to get the door open, and there it is! total bliss to be in my snug little space surrounded by all this virgin snow!

gym in am, train to rutland, got the car dug out successfully, but didn't venture getting to the cabin at 10 pm! instead, we crashed at the motor lodge in order to ready ourselves for the next steps...

last rehearsal on BrightRoom before Xmas, home to prep for VT departure (tomorrow)... I'm a bit nervous about getting the car dug out from all this snow (it's been sitting in the train station lot for a few weeks...)

big rehearsal on BrightRoom in the evening, running around during the day, no gym

big rehearsal on Bright Room, work on Wolf Chaser video, gym run, a meal with Wah and Eliza (so great to see them!) and a quick drink with Wesley...

barely left the house all day, whamming through the lists step by step...
