Date Steps Miles Log (key: public comrades only private)
2008-08-15
Searching for my fourth pedometer so I can get back in the swing of things in prep for a competition in September. Haven't been tracking steps this summer, but have walked to school everyday, danced my booty left and right, and gotten a few sporadic laps in at the pool.

IF I can find my pedometer, I'm hoping to be better with actually tracking and logging my steps. I've put Mum in charge of sending me reminders, and Wes is all about getting in shape, so hopefully my surroundings will be conducive to tracking my progress.  Wish me luck!

PS I think I'm at the beginning stages of my quarterly end-of-quarter stress cold. :(

Left the office at 4:30 with a coworker to go shopping on the clock. Was out shopping until 9:00. Exhausting, but got some good steps in for it. Somehow managed to get back right when Brian and friends were grilling, so got to enjoy a delicious portobello burger and grilled zucchini and squash. Absolutely delicious. Later made some s'mores in the microwave with leftover s'mores stuffs from Saturday. Also delicious.

Made a second attempt (with more research this time) and found a Michaels today, so I was finally able to frame and finish David's birthday present. The two of us carpooled up to Bluffton for a birthday dinner with mum & pop. We had a great drive up, a great dinner, and a great drive back. Only regrets were not getting enough steps in and eating too much pasta and cake (though both were scrumptious).

Today was errand running day. Shook it over to Shake It Records to pick up some gifts for Dad's birthday tomorrow. Also picked up a little something for myself. Attempted and failed to find a Michaels from memory - had to forfeit my efforts and return home for the day. Also had a politely pleasant and awkward exchange of belongings with an old boyfriend. Friends brought me out of a grumpy mood with s'mores and wine around the fire pit until the wee hours of the morning.

Not 100% as to what my steps were today. I think they were decent, though, because I was on my feet a lot at work.

More than half of my work day was eaten by one five and a half hour meeting, but I, in turn, ate delicious free food throughout so it was okay.

After work I somehow convinced myself to workout a bit so I got some decent steps in. Brian's friend Steve was visiting from California so I met up with them at Arlin's in Ludlow later. By the end of the evening (around 3:00am) I was mostly letting Brian and Steve chit chit chat chat while I chilled with Chris. A lot of graphic design seniors were also at the bar so I chit chatted with them a bit too.

Besides actually getting to do some work (pseudo work, but at least it was something), it's been a super lazy day. Catching up on sleep, I guess. I feel pretty lazy for not working out the past couple of days, especially cardio, but I have so much trouble getting myself to do anything after work. I was able to get into a good routine in Pittsburgh and Baltimore for a bit with waking up early and working out in the morning, so I might have to give that a try. Why can't steps accumulate, muscle tone, and fat disintegrate on all its own?

Kristen (interactive co-op at hQ) showed me this coolio designer today:
Rainbow Monkey // http://rainbowmonkey.de

Makes me want to design and create, but at the same time is demotivating because he's so good and I'm not.

Another fairly slow day at work today. Got some extra steps in because the branding team took me out to lunch and we walked to the other side of town. Needless to say, however, it was quite worth it.

Also went out to The Gypsy Hut with Brian, his bro Eric, roommate Chris, and a handful of Eric's friends for Eric's 21st birthday. Our friend Matt was bartending so all-in-all a pretty good night.

First day today. I missed my bus, had to walk an extra eight blocks on top of my expected five because of a downtown parade, and my shoes gave me extremely painful blisters - but I still made it to work on time, and I still managed to have a good day. Slow, but good.

Got off work a bit early, called the rents, and worked out a bit before heading to Brian's for a late dinner and TV with his roommates.

Gray day today. Slept in late and had a fairly stationary afternoon and evening. Since I'm getting back into the swing of things, I think I'm going to set my daily goal back down to 10,000 steps a day.

Tomorrow will be my first day at my new job - I'm a bit anxious and I hope all goes well.

Another fairly low-key day. Joined Brian and a couple of his friends who were visiting from Findlay for a late lunch at Tellers. I had never been there before but the food was delicious, drinks good, and the four of us split two mouth-watering desserts - a peach cobbler and a pecan tart of some yummy sort.

It was a nice day so Brian took me on a walk to Mt. Storm Park. I had never been and even though the skies got more gray as the day wore on I had a fabulous time. The temperature also dropped while we were out so on the way back we stopped at Sitwells and enjoyed some deliciously warm Irish coffee (actually hot-chocolate with peppermint Schnapps for me). We finished the night with Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt. Very good day.

Picked up a new rubber jump rope the other day since I can't find my old leather one. I actually like my new one better, but when I mess up it hurts more. Also bought 3-pound weights to try to keep up a light strengthening/toning routine a few times a week.

Spent the day playing guitar, relaxing, and doing some general spring cleaning. Chilled with Brian and Chris later on and ate delicious Mediterranean veggie pizza from Dewey's. Brian and I found a cheap, super sweet wine from Bully Hill Vineyards that reminds me of the grapes in our backyard. Yums.

The three of us went with some other friends to a party that turned out to be not too party-ful, but since we all walked I got some good steps in and a few dance moves as well.

It has been a crazy sleepless week (quite literally). Had a 3-hour group presentation for seminar this morning and lots of studio work throughout the week. Presentation went well and I am so glad it's over and done with, but now I have to concentrate on writing a paper and studying for a final exam--both for the same class and due on Monday. I feel exhausted and like I haven't had a decent break in such a long time, but I also know that this next week is an especially critical one in all my studios and a lot of work will be necessary to keep up, so I'm trying so hard to keep a positive attitude.

I think I've been getting some semi-decent steps in, but in all honestly it has fallen fairly low on my priority list this week.

I am not doing a good job of getting my steps in on the weekends. And I also feel like I'm getting lazier during the week and lax with going to the gym :\
