Gym this morning, walk to Post Office this afternoon, trying to get our mail re-directed while we are in Australia.  I will not bore you with the details, but this apparently simple process has already eaten hours of my time and is still not done.

Surprising email from my cousin in NY - she wants to become a German citizen!  She was born in NY and lived there all her life, has just retired, (was a Professor at a famous university) and now that the USA is about to get the best president for years, she said she "wants to be part of the EU"  She has emailed me and my cousin who lives in Germany to ask us what we think !  Of course her Dad was born in Germany, but then her Ma was born in England, so she could come to either, but she has chosen Germany - go figure.

I certainly hope we're getting the best president in years. Of course, it is difficult to get worse right now!

maybe I should have said "most promising" - inevitably he'll make mistakes, every human being does, and he is inheriting an appalling mess, but he seems to be his own man (as opposed to in hock to the oil industry or big business)

Still, I was also optimistic about Tony Blair....

Daisy i think our Gordon will probably better Tony, as to your cousin, strange decision.

Maureen, I agree about Gordon, with the current financial situation, I wouldn't want anyone else in charge.  Turns out my cousin won't leave NY, just wants to be able to work in the EU.
